ETERNA PRIMA serum combines laboratory-synthesised, encapsulated retinaldehyde (0.03%) with EGF growth factor, nano-hydroxyapatite calcium and Glucosyl Naringin, gently initiating epidermal renewal. The retinal, enclosed in biomimetic phospholipid micelles derived from hydrated lecithin, is released gradually, increasing its stability, reducing the risk of irritation and ensuring deeper skin penetration. As a direct precursor to retinoic acid, retinal stimulates cellular renewal, smooths the skin and aids the reduction of minor imperfections. EGF supports healing, enhances firmness and accelerates regeneration. Calcium hydroxyapatite works structurally to support skin density, while Glucosyl Naringin provides antioxidant, soothing and brightening effects. The serum strengthens the hydrolipid barrier, evens out skin tone, helps reduce adult acne symptoms and improves overall skin condition.

    • Encapsulated retinaldehyde (Retinal) 0.03%-Laboratory-synthesised retinaldehyde is the most direct cosmetic precursor to retinoic acid, offering faster and more effective results than traditional retinol. While retinol requires two metabolic conversions (→ retinal → retinoic acid), retinaldehyde only undergoes one, resulting in higher biological activity, quicker visible improvements, and greater efficacy in stimulating collagen and elastin synthesis. As a result, retinaldehyde visibly smooths the skin’s surface, enhances dermal density, reduces the appearance of wrinkles and pigmentation, and helps even out skin tone. Retinal also exhibits antibacterial properties, making it particularly beneficial for skin prone to blemishes and breakouts. Compared to retinol, it is generally better tolerated due to its shorter conversion pathway and faster cellular adaptation. Encapsulation in lecithin-based delivery systems further enhances stability, improves dermal penetration, and minimises irritation by ensuring a gradual, controlled release. The outcome is a significant slowdown of the skin ageing process, structural skin renewal, and noticeable improvements in texture, elasticity, and radiance—often visible in less time than with conventional retinol treatments.
    • Oligopeptide-1 - is a unique peptide known as Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), which stimulates skin cell growth and strengthens the skin barrier. EGF stimulates the division, growth and differentiation of epidermal cells. It accelerates epidermal regeneration and reduces the adverse effects of oxidative stress, preventing the degradation of collagen and elastin fibres. It stimulates skin regeneration and renewal, improving skin density and counteracting loss of firmness.
    • Calcium Nano-hydroxyapatite acts as a structural biomineral that mimics the skin's natural building blocks. It reinforces dermal density, supports collagen networks and improves skin firmness and resilience. By forming a biomimetic scaffold within the skin, it helps maintain structural integrity and reduces the appearance of sagging.
    • Glucosyl Naringin - next-generation antioxidant derived from citrus flavonoids, known for its calming and brightening effects. It protects skin cells from oxidative stress, helps to even out skin tone and reduces redness and inflammation. It also contributes to a healthier-looking, more radiant complexion by reinforcing skin’s natural defence mechanisms.

Encapsulation of retinal in phospholipid micelles from hydrated lecithin

    TECHNOLOGY DESCRIPTION

The retinal encapsulation technology uses biomimetic phospholipid micelles based on hydrated lecithin, which form stable nanostructures with amphiphilic architecture. The hydrophobic core of the micelles (lipid tails) promotes the incorporation of lipophilic retinal molecules, while the hydrophilic shell allows the system to remain in stable dispersion in an aqueous environment. Due to the limited stability of retinal in classic formulations, micellar technology is a justified approach to its delivery while maintaining high skin compatibility. The biomimetic similarity of lecithin phospholipids to the building blocks of the hydrolipid barrier may promote the integration of nanostructures with skin structures and the deposition of the active substance within the epidermis. The presence of stable nanostructures and their size (on average approx. 50 nm) have been confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

    BENEFITS

    1. Stabilisation of the active substance in the formulation: incorporation of retinal into the hydrophobic core of the micelles helps to reduce exposure to degrading factors (light, shade, moisture).

    2. Controlled release: micellar technology helps reduce uncontrolled, rapid release of the substance after application, which can translate into a more controlled and prolonged action profile

    3. Skin compatibility: the biomimetic similarity of lecithin phospholipids to the building blocks of the skin's  hydrolipid barrier may promote the integration of nanostructures into skin structures.

    4. Potential support for deposition within the epidermis: interactions between the phospholipid carrier and the epidermal barrier lipids may promote the deposition of the active substance within the epidermis.

    5. Better skin tolerance: the stabilisation of retinal in the formulation and controlled release may promote better tolerance compared to classic retinoid formulations.

    6. Multi-level correction of photoageing symptoms: retinal, the biologically active form of retinoid, promotes the induction of structural protein synthesis and stimulates cell renewal, which can translate into improved skin texture and an even skin tone.

    FAQ'S

Who should use ETERNA PRIMA 0.03%, and what results can I expect?

This low-dose serum is ideal for retinoid beginners or those with sensitive skin. At 0.03% retinal, it gently speeds up cell turnover to smooth fine lines and even out skin tone, with minimal risk of irritation thanks to the encapsulated retinal (slow-release delivery)  and barrier-supporting actives (EGF, glucosyl naringin, calcium hydroxyapatite). It’s the perfect first step into vitamin A skincare – you can expect a healthier glow, improved skin texture, and a gradual firming effect as it boosts collagen production over time.

How do I use ETERNA PRIMA 0.03% in my routine?

Apply it at night, after cleansing and drying your face. In the beginning, use it twice a week (for example, Monday and Thursday nights) to let your skin adjust. Over a few weeks, if you don’t experience irritation, increase to every other night, and eventually nightly use if tolerated  Always let the serum absorb, then follow with a moisturiser to keep skin hydrated. In the mornings, wear a broad-spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen – this is essential, as retinal (like all retinoids) makes skin more sensitive to the sun. Consistency is key: give it 4–6 weeks of regular use to start seeing noticeable results

Is ETERNA PRIMA 0.03% suitable for very sensitive skin, and how can I avoid irritation?

Yes. The 0.03% serum is formulated to be gentle. Its retinal is encapsulated in lecithin microspheres, meaning it’s released gradually to prevent irritation . Plus, it’s enriched with soothing and repairing ingredients: EGF to help skin renewal, glucosyl naringin (a citrus antioxidant that boosts elastin for firmness)  to calm and firm the skin, and nano-hydroxyapatite to strengthen the skin barrier and control retinal delivery. To further avoid irritation, start slow (as above), and you can try the “retinol sandwich” method – apply a layer of moisturiser, then the serum, then another layer of moisturiser. This buffering technique creates a sustained-release effect that reduces dryness and redness. Listen to your skin: if you notice unusual stinging or peeling, use the serum less frequently and focus on hydration. Over time, your skin’s tolerance will build, and you’ll enjoy the benefits with comfort.

When is the best time to start using a 0.03% retinal serum?

The best time to introduce retinal is typically in the autumn or winter months, when the sun’s intensity is lower. Retinoids increase your skin’s sun sensitivity, so starting in the cooler, less sunny season helps reduce the risk of UV-related irritation . That said, you can use 0.03% serum year-round – just be diligent with daily sunscreen. If you begin in summer or live in a sunny climate, be extra strict about applying (and reapplying) high SPF and perhaps use the serum a bit less often initially. The key is to avoid strong sun exposure, especially in the early adjustment phase. In short: many people find it easiest to begin in autumn (allowing 2–3 months for skin to acclimate before spring/summer), but with proper sun protection you can safely use ETERNA PRIMA in any season.

What can I combine with ETERNA PRIMA 0.03%, and is there anything I should avoid?

Keep the rest of your routine simple and gentle for best results. At night, after the serum, apply a plain hydrating moisturiser (and no other strong actives on the same night). In the morning, you can use antioxidants like vitamin C – but apply vitamin C serum in the morning, and use the retinal in the evening, not at the same time. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid or niacinamide pair nicely with retinal (they help hydrate and repair the barrier). Avoid using exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA) or other retinoids on the same nights as your ETERNA serum – combining them directly can over-stress your skin. It’s fine to use acids on alternate nights if needed. Always apply sunscreen during the day. In summary: do hydrate and protect your skin, don’t overload it with too many potent treatments at once.
